Mike and Maryke Gillis enjoy the cider and donuts at Kaynor’s
Hi Runners,
Here we go….my first attempt at club wide news and notes!  Some of you may find this in a junk or promotions mailbox since it is coming from a new email. Move me to your primary email box or you’ll miss out on lots of great info over the next 51 weeks…We have now completed Unofficial Fun Run #4 — It is wintery weather I would have loved to see in February. This week, 4 hardy runners showed up with paces ranging from run/walk to long threshold pace. As my first presidential duty, I was hoping to presentChris Andresen with a citation as the only person who has attended every single Tuesday–Instead, he remains the only person to attend the 1st three. I hear next Tuesday is supposed to be warmer, so come on out and tell us about how you did or how cold it was at Unplugged or how much fun you had at the …

Winter Long Run– just a few left to get in on the fun!  The next winter long run will be hosted on Saturday 4/9 by Rowly Brucken. The run will start at 9:30 am at Rowly & Lisa’s home at 252 Central St in Northfield. For questions and/or RSVP’s, e-mail Rowly atrbrucken@norwich.edu.  Jeff attracted 6 runners to last Saturday (4/2) for the Montpelier to East Montpelier hill climb and descent despite some of us sitting it out to rest for….

Kaynor’s Sap Run, which attracted 11 CVR members, including our volunteer Greg Wight, despite being dropped from the CVR/ORS series. Jeff has already reported some outstanding CVR results. With the GMAA discount, I paid $9, got a jar of Bove’s, cider, donuts, plenty of flush toilets at pre-race, and best of all, won a pint of maple syrup in the raffle. Always cold and windy, Kaynor’s would never be cancelled due to weather (or bad forecast) which is what happened to the Middletown Half Marathon in CT ($65) on the same day. Running clubs are a fantastic way to fight high race entry fees. Next chance to support a cheap local race is Rollin Irish on April 16  before throwing your support to the Adamant 20 Miler.

Here, in my first email, I want to put in a quick plug for a lesser known weekly run on Mondays from the Berlin Town Clerks at 4:15. CVR members have been showing up around then every Monday for about 30 years now. New blood is always needed — While Bob Murphy and John Valentine have been there (when healthy) since the beginning, others come and go . We have even gotten flexible enough to occasionally change the location to Adamant, so email me if you would like to be on the Monday run list.

If you have not renewed for 2016, you might be expired :(.   Visit the new exciting CVRUNNERS.ORG  website to renew. Remember to clear your internet history if you are having trouble with it at all. Any links hanging around in your old emails might not work now, but just go to the home page and find out how easy it is to get around.

Adamant 20 miler May 7:  Time to get together a relay if you aren’t on track for 20 miles. Sign up now with this app .  Eric can still use some volunteers. eryea@aol.com  Opportunity knocks!   Mutt Strutt:  May 15  Brittany Lafirara will Direct for the last time — we need YOU to volunteer to be Race Director next year, and apprentice to Brittany this year.  Let me know if you are interested or contact Brittany for details.brittany.lafirira@gmail.com
