Deadlines for Stowe 8 Miler & Newsletter–Fun Runs–Final Winter Long Run–CVR Meeting and More!
We have a couple of deadlines on the horizon:
Email Shannon Salembier by Friday, May 6th if you would like to be in the drawing for the Stowe 8 Miler/5k free entries. Let her know which race you plan to enter. Shannon will pick the winners May 7. I’m rooting for the big drawing to be held at the Adamant 20 Miler awards so we can have our CVR auditors present.
In case you forgot, from the News and Notes of April 13:
The Stowe 8 Miler and 5K on July 10 is now part of the CVR/ORS series and has offered CVR 5 Free entries! As part of the new club competition, we need to get as many people as we can to sign up and we need to fill certain AG requirements to win monetary prizes for the club. Shannon Salembier is coordinating sign ups and free entries.
Bob Howe is busy putting together the next CVR newsletter. Please email him, email@example.com, submissions of your globetrotting gallops or running ruminations by May 2. At the annual meeting, we voted to make the newsletter electronic unless you indicate on your CVR Membership Application that you prefer paper. The May 2016 newsletter will be your final paper copy unless you notify Allie Nerenberg, firstname.lastname@example.org, that you prefer paper in the future. If you prefer electronic immediately, let Allie know and you can start saving trees and CVR funds with the upcoming newsletter.
The first FUN RUN of 2016 is Tuesday May 3 at 5:30. Not sure how many brave souls ran in the aftermath of sloppy snow for our final unofficial Fun Run. I was too wimpy to give it a go myself. I expect hordes to show next week since they have read the sign on the fence that says they start in May. In case they don’t, I hope you join in and bring your friends. We are grateful that Darragh Ellerson hopes to time most of them again this year.
Remember to plan on helping with CVR Green Up of the Fun Run course coordinated by Mack Gardner-Morse on May 5. Mack provides bags and gloves, but I bring my own gloves. Maybe I will bring some snacks and libations to share (with hand sanitizer?). Meet at the Fun Run start between 5:15 and 5:30 and we will divide and conquer the amazing new collection of trash that has been deposited this year. The more that show the merrier and the more we can be proud of our run course.
Andy Shuford will be host this Saturday (4/30) for the final 2016 Winter Long Run. The run will start at 9:30 am and depart from the lower parking lot behind Stowe Community Church. Contact Andy with questions or to let him know you are coming. Maybe carpools can be arranged? email@example.com
The next CVR Meeting is scheduled for May 16 at the home of Denise Ricker, 399 Murray Rd., Montpelier. Potluck at 6 pm, meeting to start at 6:30. Put that on your Monday night calendar.
CVR’s busy season is here….
Season Kick off: Adamant 20 Miler May 7: Believe it or not we are set for volunteers, so you have no excuse not to run it! Looking for a relay partner? I’ll bet we can help out. firstname.lastname@example.org
Don’t forget Mutt Strutt May 15. Contact Brittany Lafirira if you can volunteer.
Barre Town Spring Run May 21 is your 2nd opportunity to score points in the 2016 CVR/ORS Race series. Counting to 5 is easy when you get an early start. Use the Corporate Cup as a tune up over a week ahead! Contact Andrea McLaughlin, email@example.com if you would like to volunteer.
The Corporate Cup on Thursday May 12 is looking for volunteers. If you are not running, it is fun to volunteer and see the masses running through Montpelier. If interested register on their website or contact Cindy Hier with questions.
Are you doing the Stowe Triathlon instead of Mutt Strutt on May 15? I have helped time the event for the last several years, but am unable to attend this year. It would help them a lot if a CVR member who would be responsible for our big clock and a couple of printer timers or TimeMachines would attend. The organizers know how to use the equipment while you race or you can volunteer. Contact me if you can help out. I am betting you could get at least a discount entry to the race or a few Swimming Hole passes for your assistance.
See you on the roads, Donna
