News and notes from Donna

Sodom Pond 4 Miler
Leafpeepers signup deadlines!

Hi All,

I thought I sent this out yesterday, but it looks like it didn’t go. Sorry for such a late notice about Sodom Pond, etc. unless it actually was sent and then sorry if you got it twice. Good old technology!

Sodom Pond 4 Miler this Wed Sept 14 at 6 pm. Tim Noonan could use a few more volunteers if you want to come and join the fun without racing. Email Tim to volunteer. Steve Hill reports that the Wednesday Track workout is cancelled this week so all the speedsters can come to run Sodom Pond. As in prior years, Eric and Donna are putting on a free pasta supper after the race. Donations of salad or desserts are accepted (but definitely not expected) to round out the pasta and bread we provide.

Deadline approaches…Online registration closes for Leafpeepers Half Marathon and 5K on September 28 with mail in closing on Sept 23. Sign up now! Proceeds from Leafpeepers funds most of CVR’s activities and donations throughout each year. You can do either race to gain points in the CVR/ORS race series. Running the 5K allows you to watch the start and finish of the Half Marathon which is fun, but I think Perry Hill is more fun. I hear rumors of music and maybe drumming on the hill this year! Darragh Ellerson is in charge of providing 4-6 volunteers as backup timers for Granite State Race Services. So if you can help at the finish line, contact Darragh. Also, June Burr continues to need course volunteers. It is a great way to watch and cheer if you are not planning on running. If you haven’t got your CVR volunteer duty in for the year, now is the time. Contact June and let her know you will be there.

CVR/ORS Race Series Update: Jim Flint has updated the CVR Race Series Standings through Northfield 5K. Here’s a peek at the leaders:
F 0-19 — Jane Miller-Arsenault
F 20-29 — Dylan Broderick (2 age group wins)
F 30-39 — Meg Valentine (4 age group wins, displacing Leslie Welts)
F 40-49 — Rima Carlson (1 age group win)
F 50-59 — Dot Martin (5 age group wins – 500 pts.)
F 60-69 — Nina Aitken (5 age group wins – 500 pts.)
F 70-79 — Marsha Bancroft (1 age group win)
M 0-19 — Brian Bushey (2 age group wins)
M 20-29 — Matt Rutherford (2 age group wins, displacing Geordy Aitken)
M 30-39 — Colin Clifford
M 40-49 — Rowly Brucken (2 age group wins)
M 50-59 — Jim Flint (2 age group wins, displacing Mack Gardner Morse)
M 60-69 — Chris Andresen (5 age group wins – 500 pts.)
M 70-79 — Greg Wight (displacing Roger Cranse)
M 80+ — Gerry Carlson (4 age group wins)
You still have time to get 3 races in: Sodom Pond this Wednesday, Leafpeepers Half Marathon or 5K October 2 and then Autumn Onion 5K Oct 30. Remember your best 5 races count (some AG’s may win with just a race or 2) and you need to volunteer at a CVR event to be included in the final standings. I see some age group leaders who will lose their award if they don’t volunteer in the next couple of months. And even if you aren’t the leader, don’t you want to be listed in the final standings? As always, contact Jim Flint if you see any errors in your score.
See you Wednesday right here in downtown Adamant!
