News and notes from Donna

Happiness is….. Volunteering together at the finish line
Hi All,
Leafpeepers! Jeff already sent out the CVR results summary. Great job Race Committee, Volunteers, Racers and sponsors (huge amounts of food and crazy prizes!). I would also like to express thanks to the Fall Foliage for actually showing up just barely on time and the rain for holding off all day. I hope a good time was had by all. It was fun being at the finish line for the whole thing–much easier than running it, but I do love that hill, really.

I have been missing the Tuesday night Fun Runs lately, I have lots of great excuses. But I promise not to miss October 18, because it is the final scheduled official Fun Run of the season, and there is a plan to follow the run with dinner (and beer or margaritas). Even if you haven’t been to many Fun Runs this year, there is still time on the 11th and the 18th. And why miss a chance for burgers and beers with other runners?

I talked to Tristan at ORS last week. He is a bit discouraged that very few have signed up for the Autumn Onion 5K. Remember that it is part of the CVR/ORS series this year, which means that you can still get points! This is your last opportunity to boost your score, so go for it–especially in costume! On-Line sign up is open and it really helps the timers (that would be me) if you pre-register. Makes it so much easier race day, really. Save $5 ( that’s 50% for kids and 33% for adults) by registering now at Onion River Sports.

Here’s a special request that I hope some of you can help with. The Middle School XC Championships will be held at Trapp Family Lodge on Oct 29. Sue Dodge is recruiting volunteers. Many will be required. If you have a Middle School runner and will be there or would like to help the VT Middle School runners, please contact Sue Dodge.

Ongoing events

Fun Run every Tuesday at 5:30. Meet at the Dept of Labor parking off of Green Mtn Dr. at the bike path for 1, 2, 4, or 6 mile course options. Note: Just 2 weeks of daylight remains to continue the Fun Runs–Final Fun Run of the Season (4 miles max) is October 18. Plan on Julio’s after the run.

CVR Track Workouts every Wednesday–Intervals start at 6 pm at the Montpelier High School Track (The plan for these workouts during the darker days is in the works. Contact Steve Hill if you have questions or suggestions)
