CVR Birthdays this Week!
Happy Birthday this week to: Lori Lacroix, Deirdre Ellerson, Cindy Gardner-Morse (new AG!), Miccal McMullen, Alana Bonner, Fabienne Pattison.
I finally got back to Fun Run after a couple of misses. Great turnout! I think it is averaging in the mid 30’s–yes, Darragh has to go to a 2nd page for results!. Lots of fast youth for inspiration. I wish I had a camera. I’ve heard Wednesday nights continue to be strong too. The race calendar gets a little thinner these days, so pad your schedule with the Tuesday and Wednesday CVR training to keep up your momentum.
Bob Howe has announced a July 31 deadline for submissions to the CVR Newsletter. Please send him your stories and photos from the summer’s accomplishments! email@example.com. The newsletter precedes an August 14 club meeting (site TBD).
Hard to break records at a 39 year old race, but Lori Crotts broke the Bear Swamp record set on July 11, 2015 by U32 Sophomore Rena Schwartz. Rena’s old mark was 37:21. Rena had bettered Megan Valentine’s old course record of 37:46 set in 2008. Lori’s record will be tough to beat. Maybe she can break her own record next year!
Barre Heritage Festival 5K is coming up quickly! You just have until July 22 to enter for $5. After that the price doubles to a whopping $10! (that means just 4 days to get it done) Jackie Jancaitis and her Rehab Gym helpers definitely still need some CVR volunteers. Contact Jackie, 802-479-4000 or firstname.lastname@example.org, to volunteer and then explore the beautiful trail network at a leisurely pace after the race.
Jim Flint has compiled the results through Bear Swamp for the CVR/ORS series –see how you are doing HERE. Nobody has 500 yet, but Anna Milkowski and Dot Martin both have 400 so are well placed to find a 5th win in the final stretch. Tim Noonan has most points total with 493 in the extremely competitive men’s 60-69 Age Group. 8 races down, but still 5 more events to pad your score! You could start now and win with 500 points! And of course if Jim has missed you, or you notice an error, please send him a nice note to help him out. mailto:email@example.com . Check on the volunteer box too to correct any errors. Remember you need to have an x there to count in the final results.
Race to the Top of Vermont is offering a discounted price if we send in 5 or more applications at one time. Sandy Colvin will gather the applications to be sent in at the same time. So save $ and get the printed app with a check to Sandy. She needs them by July 24th. She can be contacted at: Buckman43@comcast.net, or you can drop them off at her house or mail them to 121 Spring Hollow Rd. in Montpelier. See http://www.rtttovt.com/register/teamsclubsgroups/ for info.
Rowly Brucken and Todd Sears are looking for a third person to join their 100 on 100 Relay ultra team. From Rowly: “There is no qualifying standard, though we expect our teammate (male or female) to be jovial, able to run 30-35 total miles, and place having fun above meeting any performance standards. The race is August 12. For more info, please contact Rowly at firstname.lastname@example.org. ”
From Nathan Suter: I had a team put together for the 100 on 100 this year (August 12), but it has fallen apart due to injuries. The registration was $800 (now up to $970 on their site). We’d like to offer the registration to CVR folks if someone wants to assemble a team. Contact Nathan email@example.com
