CVR News and Notes from Donna

Annual Meeting Time!

CVR Birthdays this Week!
Happy Birthday to: Ben Ellingson, Jennifer Gordon, Ron Ridlon, Bob Mercier, Anna Berg, and Patricia Ruddy!

The speedwork crew is back. 9 counting photographer Manny. (Good to see both genders again.)

The CVR Annual Meeting at the Four Corners Schoolhouse in East Montpelier is this Sunday at 4:30. We are meeting before dinner so everyone knows when to show up. Meeting will start promptly at 4:30 pm, pizza will be delivered at 6 pm, which should help guarantee a timely completion of the meeting. Salads, desserts or non alcoholic beverages may be contributed to complete the meal (not required to join in on the food). The schoolhouse is accessible by pavement if mud season returns (after a few frigid days, I can only hope for mud season). We elect new officers and plan our year’s donations at this meeting–come have your say and get psyched for the 2018 season.

The 2nd 2018 CVR/Onion River Outdoors Race Series event-Kaynors Sap Run 10K is at 11 a.m. in Westford on March 25. There is time to enter on-line until March 23. Remember you can count up to 6 races for 2018, so don’t delay getting some points in the bank. I see a lot of locals on the list, so I am proposing a carpool option. Meet at the Montpelier Fun Run parking at 9 a.m. if you want to carpool. We’ll take however many cars we need. There is one car that can bring people back but not there, so even if you have errands after the race, show up for the carpool. I plan to be there.

As of now, the CVR Winter Long Run is on hiatus for this weekend since so many will be running at Kaynors. Jeff will organize a run if there is still interest. I know that Graham Sherriff has contacted Jeff about doing a long run Saturday, so let Jeff know if you’d like to join an impromptu group.

Unofficial Fun Runs at 5:30 on Tuesdays. Mack and Manny officially ran the unofficial fun run this week. I think there will be more next Tuesday!

A good-bye toast to Steve Hill might have helped attendace at speed work tonight.

Phyllis Arsenault Berry would like to form a CVR (or non-CVR paddlers OK too) for the Dragon Boat Festival in August. It takes 20 paddlers and one drummer–up to 10 men and 10 or more women to form a team. I know June Burr has done this before. Contact Phyllis:, if interested.

Norm Robinson will be returning to VT with a couple of teams from Nashville (which somehow include Tim Noonan) to run a new Ragnar Relay trail race at Mt. Ascutney August 3-4. He encourages CVR to field some teams to join him in the fun.
