CVR Races Coming Up

The next Race Series race is the 45th Annual  Paul Mailman Ten Miler is this Saturday, April 27 at 8:45am.  The companion 5K race is not part of the Race Series but is at the same time and on the same course.  Remember the parking and start have moved to the Department of Labor (Fun Run start).  Also remember this is the RRCA Vermont State Championship 10 Miler!  RRCA state champion awards will be given in the Open, Masters, Grand Masters and Senior Grand Masters divisions.

And Sunday is the 23rd Annual Mutt Strutt at Little River State Park at 10am.  Nice scenic 3 mile course on a closed road.  Bring your leashed dog, or you can run solo without a dog.

Volunteers Needed for the 10 Miler

We are currently short of volunteers for the 10 miler.  Postions open: finish line, water stop, course monitor and the turnaround. Please contact Andy Shuford if you can help.

Vermont City Marathon

If you are running the marathon this year, please register CVR as your club.  The club competition awards the club with the best three times in each RRCA division (Open, Master, Grand Masters, Senior Grand Masters).  VCM is the national RRCA championship marathon this year.  Wouldn’t it be great to have bragging rights and win a team competition.  CVR has won a division before so it is certainly possible!  And the award is cash!  So please register as CVR. If you have already registered and forgot to name CVR as your team, let me know and I’ll get Run Vermont to add you to the team.

Unplugged Half Marathon

One outstanding result I missed last week is the half marathon debut forLoren Searles at Unplugged, in a time of 1:50:04.  Loren is 18 and was first in the 0-19 AG in Wave 2.  Awesome first half marathon time!

Newsletter

The next newsletter will go out before the May Meeting (May 13). Start working on articles now and have them to Maryke Gillis no later than May 4.

Green Up

The annual tradition of greening up the Fun Run course will occur on Thursday, May 2.  Meet at the Fun Run start at 5:30pm (behind VT Dept. of Labor on Green Mountain Dr.). Mack Gardner-Morse will be in charge and will have some bags and gloves, but you may want to bring your own.  If you want to come early, Mack will be there early and will stay at the start until at least 6pm if you can’t get there at 5:30pm.  This year’s green up is in honor of Scott Skinner who passed away last year and was a frequent participant.
