News You Can Use!

Hi All,

The Barre Heritage 5K looks like they had a pretty good turnout on a nice day. I notice an interesting weird skewing of participants from the results: Female participants under 50=22, Males under 50=3, Males over 50=6, Females over 50=0. What explains that? There were plenty of over 50 women racing with me at Colchester Triathlon that day. Results for Barre Heritage are up on CVRUNNERS.ORG. Thanks to new RD Jackie Jancaitis from the Rehab Gym and her great crew of volunteers. I didn’t hear of anybody getting lost this year.

Next Up…. Barre Heritage 5K!

Happy Volunteers at Bear Swamp!
Hi All,
Here is a minor change to last week’s newsletter announcement from Bob Howe: The due date for submissions is delayed from August 1 to August 8. Bob will get the newsletter out before the next CVR meeting which is now scheduled for August 22 at the home of Beth Daut on Crosstown Rd. in Berlin. Potluck at 6, meeting at 6:30. I’ll fill you in on the tentative agenda in a couple of weeks, but let me know if you have anything you would like brought up.
Bob would like articles from CVR members with stories of how running has either made you feel younger or older on occasion and of course submit any race reports, history or other fun running stories you would like to share. Be sure to notify Allie Nerenberg if you want to receive a paper copy rather than email copy of the newsletter. I will send out a link to the pdf on Mailchimp and we will post it on the website.

Here we go again…

Richard Weinstein (bib # 203) at 2016 Paul Mailman 10-Miler
Hey you guys,

It turns out that we had a celebrity in our midst yesterday at the Paul Mailman 10-Miler although we didn’t know it at the time. No, it wasn’t Paul Mailman himself (although he and his family did attend in 2014). An anonymous club member told me yesterday afternoon that she was chatting with a man after the race. He mentioned to her that he was a former winner of the race back in the day. I contacted Bob Murphy and he e-mailed me race results from 1985. (Who else would have 31-year-old race results handy?) The winner of the Montpelier 10 Mile Race on June 29, 1985 happened to be Richard Weinstein of Brighton, MA in a time of 53:57. Welcome back, Richard!
