News and Notes – November 30 – December 13, 2025

As the year is winding down and the running season does the same, we will be sending out a slimmed down version of the newsletter every two weeks and skipping the events update in between. Happy Running, and don’t forget your lights and reflective gear as the days get shorter!

  • FINAL club meeting minutes of 2025! Please see the notes here, and thanks to all for your inputs on key issues like the race series scoring and confirming our slate of 2026 races. More to come on these items in the next few weeks.
  • Our first race of the new season will be the New Years Eve 5K! More soon and keep an eye on the club website for online pre-registration and race details. See you in downtown Montpelier December 31!
  • ☃️Winter Group Runs start December 6! The first WGR of the seasonwill kick off at Eric Ryea and Donna Smyers’ home at 1171 Haggett Road in Adamant. There will be hot beverages and snacks inside after the run, and we’re expecting to celebrate a happy 74th birthday as well! Sign up on the Google sheet here. Note that WGRs will be taking off at 9:30am on Saturdays this winter (with Sundays as possible snow-days if Saturday weather looks particularly unfavorable).
    • We have a new WGR coordinator this winter – say hi to Jessica Ball! She is also looking for volunteers to help host runs throughout the season, and she’d love your suggestions for fun, winter-friendly routes. Feel free to reach out to her at jessica.petrino@gmail.com.
    • You can also directly sign up to host a WGR at this google sheet, add your name to any open weekend! You don’t have to have any details figured out yet, Jessica will reach out to you directly as your run is coming up.
    • Hosting can be anything from planning routes from your home and providing snacks/hot beverages for after, or simply suggesting a meeting spot (ideally with a coffee shop nearby for a post-run warmup) – whatever you’re comfortable with. The key is to have some fun, interesting spots to run this winter!
    • Email Heather or Donna ASAP if you have not in the past been on our Thursday WGR special mailing list. We send out a Thursday blast with details of the coming WGR in a special note. You can also always find details on the google sheet above!
  • 🗓️Save the Date – CVR Annual Volunteer and Awards Dinner will be January 29, 2026! More details to come soon, make sure you keep that evening free for celebration and enjoying time with your fellow members to reflect on another fantastic year with CVR. We can’t wait!
  • Reminder – Fun Runs have officially ended! But if your Tuesday evenings feel empty, don’t fear – an intrepid group continues to meet at the Bear Naked Growler on Tuesdays for a run along the bike path at 5:30pm. Wear your reflective gear and headlamps – be seen, be safe!

Member benefits – don’t forget your benefits! Including the new offering from the Sanctuary in Northfield, all details on benefits and how to access them can be found here.
