Northfield 5K Run/Walk and One Mile Kids’ Race

Races will be held pending VT State COVID-19 health guidelines as of September 3, 2022.

Central Vermont Runners presents the Northfield 5k run/walk and one-mile kids’ race on Saturday, September 3 in downtown Northfield. The event kicks off Northfield’s Labor Day weekend festivities.

Directions/Parking/Portalets: From Interstate-89 take exit 5 to VT Rt.64 west toward Northfield. Turn right on Rt. 12 north. Proceed past Norwich University toward downtown. On-street parking is available along the right side of Main St. (Route 12) as you are heading down the hill. Portalets are set up on the west side of Depot Square.

Registration and Fees: Pre-registration encouraged!

5K Run/Walk Fees:

  • $20 until August 23
  • $25 August 24 – September 1
  • $30 Race day

1 Mile Kids’ Race Fees:

  • $10 until August 23
  • $15 August 24 – September 1
  • $20 Race day

Race day registration and number pickup:

  • Location: in front of Good Measure Pub and Brewery, 17 East St., Northfield – downtown next to Subway
  • 5K number pickup from 8:00am to 9:15am
  • 1 Mile number pickup from 9:15 to 10:15am

Race day schedule:

  • 5K run and power walk: 9:30am
  • Kids’ 1 Mile race(ages 5-13): 10:30am
  • Awards Ceremony: 11:15am following the kids’ race.

Race Information: The races begin in front of the Northfield Savings Bank. Mile markers will be posted along the 5k course. A water station will be located at the midpoint of the 5K course. Course maps will be available on race day. Please note that strollers, headphones, and dogs are not allowed in the races. Minors under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver for the minor to participate.     

Awards: For the 5k race, CVR will award a prize to the fastest male, female, and nonbinary finisher in the 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+ age groups. For the 1-mile kids’ run, prizes will be awarded to the top three male, female, and nonbinary participants in age groups 5-9 and 10-13.

Vermont Senior Games: CVR is pleased to once again welcome the participation of the Vermont Senior Games Association  VSGA will award gold, silver and bronze medals to the top three male and female finishers over 50 (five-year age groups) in the 5k run and the 5k power walk. The Northfield 5k run and 5k power walk are qualifiers for the National Senior Games to be held in Pittsburgh, July 7-18, 2023.
