Central Vermont Runners
President’s Note
Some random thoughts as I recover from my elbow fracture surgery . . . My heartfelt gratitude to the many members of our running community who have supported me since my injury from a fall at the Barre Heritage 5k trail race. The surgery went well and I look forward to returning to running sometime this fall . . . There are many enticing running events coming up in the near future. In the next month alone, on tap are the Berlin Pond 5 Miler, the Nathan Suter Track Celebration, and the Northfield 5k and Kids One Mile Run . . . I had a good discussion this week with Leaf Peepers Half-Marathon and 5k Director Will Robens on the short-term and long-term prospects for CVR’s largest annual event. There will be much more discussion on this in the months ahead . . . Kudos to Celine Blais of Montpelier. It was noted in the most recent Run Vermont newsletter that Celine set the Single Age record for 78 year old women at this year’s Vermont City Marathon and is the oldest woman to finish a marathon in Vermont.- Tim

Race Series Rules Change Reminder
Now that we are past the halfway point of the CVR/ORO Race Series, we want to remind members of the changes we’ve implemented this year.

1) Scoring has been changed to a simplified point system, with 10 points awarded to the first CVR finisher in an age group, 9 to the second, etc.
2) We now count the seven best races in the standings instead of six.
3) To be considered the winner of the series for an age group, you must participate in a minimum of three races.
4) Unchanged, but a reminder that you must also volunteer for at least one CVR race to be included in the series standings.

All races will start right at 5:30PM from the Outdoor Center meadow at 800 Trapp Hill Rd.
