Central Vermont Runners
President’s Note

There are still plenty of CVR activities to keep you occupied as daylight hours lessen and colder temperatures arrive. The CVR racing season wraps up in November with the low-key ($5 entry fee, no pre-registration)
Fallen Leaves 5k races on November 7, 14 and 21.  The races starting and finishing on the Montpelier High School track, and incorporating the bike path, have provided a good competitive and social opportunity for more than 20 years. Some like to run all the races to see if they can improve their times from week to week. Others run one or two races and volunteer at another of the races. Some volunteer at all three races.

Another November CVR activity open to all members is a club meeting on Sunday, November 15, at 1 pm, at the Adamant Community Center. This potluck affair will address many important issues for the immediate future of CVR. Among them are finalizing the 2027 race calendar and CVR – Onion River Outdoor race series, addressing a potential CVR partnership with Marathon Sports, discussing important developments with the Leaf Peepers races, and scheduling the annual CVR banquet and CVR annual meeting. I hope to see you there!- Tim Noonan

There are also some awesome perks like heavy employee discounts and periodical free shoes. Stop in or email Danny (danny.eyerman@marathonsports.com) if you are interested.
New Book by a CVR Member: Gordon MacFarland has published a book titled “Staying With It: Reflections on Running and Aging”! It is now available at Bear Pond Books in Montpelier, and an event will be planned in October. Read about the book here. This ties in nicely with recent member special editions by Dot Helling and Elizabeth McCarthy, so we are wondering if anyone would be interested in a longer collection of musings on this topic. If you would like to contribute, email Addie (addiemariehedges@gmail.com).
Nathan Suter Scholarship: A component of the track celebration was collecting donations for a scholarship in honor of Nathan Suter. If you would like to contribute, you can Venmo “MRPS Partners in Education Corporation” and include “Nathan Suter” in the description.
Shoes for Sale: Luke Miller is trying to sell a pair of Hoka Clifton Pro (men’s 9) shoes for $100. He wore them a few times and found they didn’t work for him. Email Luke (luke.b.miller17@gmail.com) if you are interested.
