Bring on the humidity
We can take it right? Right?? Or maybe we’re already over it. In any case, the heat and humidity are definitely here, so be sure to get lots of hydration before you head out for any events! We’ve got evening trail runs, fun runs, track meets, and all kinds of other stuff going on, there’s like something or many things for you to participate in as the summer rolls forward.
On a programming note, we were disappointed to have to cancel last week’s All Comer’s track meet due to the threat of severe thunderstorms, but hoping this week’s forecast is more favorable to getting back out for speedwork this Thursday. Since it is prime thunderstorm season, note that we are watching the weather and updating event statuses on our Facebook and Instagram accounts, and when events do need to be cancelled, sending out a notice to the newsletter audience (like last Thursday with the track meet) so be sure to check these spots when the weather is looking iffy to be in the know about events!
Happy running,
Heather

Race photos and results: Bear Swamp
We couldn’t have asked for a better day for this race, especially since the seemingly cursed week of July 10th has traumatized the region for the past few years, with last year’s local flooding forcing us to cancel this race. Not this year! A humid day but great turnout for Bear Swamp. Results will be up soon on the CVR website so check there!

Fourth of July in Lebanon
Quite a few members traveled to Lebanon, NH to enjoy the Red, White, and Blue 5K/10K on the 4th, see a few pics below courtesy of Kim Williams! Race results here.

2025 CVR/ORO Race Series Standings We are just about at the halfway point in the race series – how are you stacking up? The updated standings through Birdland are here. Some of the divisions are not yet sealed for the year so there’s plenty of time to clinch your spot. And don’t forget one requirement is to volunteer at least once – plenty of opportunities to do so this summer and into the fall so sign up today to help! Coordinator Joe Merrill works to update these as frequently as he can, so we update on the website whenever possible. Be patient as results can sometimes take a few weeks after races to reconcile. A sincere thank you to our sponsor Onion River Outdoors and specifically Allee Pineault for her excellent work putting this together. We will have printed copies of the poster available if you want to share this with any local businesses or publicize at your upcoming races, just let me know! |
Trail Runs Updates
Weekly Monday evening trail runs at North Branch/Hubbard Park have begun! Every Monday, meet at the North Branch Nature Center at 5:30 for orientation/intros, group departs at 5:45pm. Currently have an out and back 5k or 10K option – join the group any Monday this summer! Note that the NBNC meet up point is NEW as of June 30,since the Montpelier Pool is a happening place all of a sudden!
Currently there is no scheduled trail run on July 19, but check the Google sheet (or offer to host!), and make sure you’re on the Google listserv – see below for how to join if you are not on it!
If you’re interested in hosting you can take a look at available weekends in the google sheet here. Each week if a run is organized, the details will be updated in a tab in the same sheet, and the host will send out via the CVR Trails Google Group. If you’re not receiving trails emails but want to be, let Mark or Heather know so we can add you to the group.
**If you’re curious about what hosting a trail run entails, check out the host guidelines here.**
Note that an organized Saturday/Weekend run may not happen every week if there isn’t a host signed up. Also as the season is still getting going and with rain and iffy trail conditions, runs may be sporadic – stay tuned!

Monday night trail runs are gaining in popularity! Join this crew tomorrow night!
