More on this race as it approaches but sign up today if you know you’re going to compete! Register here. Meanwhile, volunteers are also needed – Volunteer using RunSignup at RSU Volunteers OR on the CVR homepage at https://cvrunners.org OR email John Hackney at info@cvrunners.org.
- Mutt Strut registration is also open! Get out there with your pup! And help raise money for Potter’s Angels again on April 26 for this fun 3-miler for a great cause. Register here.
- Capital City Stampede – June 6 – registration now open as well! More to come for this fun. fast 10k!
Other CVR News:
- Save the Date – Annual Club Meeting scheduled for Sunday, March 15 in East Montpelier. Join us at the Four Corners Schoolhouse for our annual meeting. By popular demand, we will also host a fun run before the meeting so lace up those shoes (be ready for mud?) and join for a little jaunt around East Montpelier/Adamant before the potluck and meeting. A virtual option will be available, as always. The draft agenda can be found here. This is a BIG MEETING because there are quite a few board seats that will be up for election! President and Vice President terms are up, and our indefinite term roles of Treasurer and Secretary are also open (which doesn’t usually happen at the same time!). We have a slate of officers lined up (sans secretary….we are recruiting – see below!) and welcome additional names – reach out to Heather (hetomlins@gmail.com) and Dot (dothelling@gmail.com) (nominating committee) if you have ideas. Otherwise come to the meeting (in person or virtual) to cast your votes and meet your new board!
- 2026 CVR/ORO Race Series Will Take off in March! Though this year’s series launched with the NYE 5K, the next few in the series start to take off in March, and since we made some changes to the rules (details can be found here), don’t forget you need one additional race this year (7) to be competitive in the series (in addition to volunteering!). Make your race series participation plan early! Special thanks to our friends at ORO (credit to Allee Pineault) for creating our 2026 series poster!

Winter Group Runs – hosts needed for future dates! Get details on the weekly runs as they come together on the Google sheet here. Note that WGRs will be taking off at 9:30am on Saturdays this winter (with Sundays as possible snow-days if Saturday weather looks particularly unfavorable). Sign up to host at this google sheet, or email Jessica Ball, our WGR coordinator, at jessica.petrino@gmail.com.
- Email Heather or Donna ASAP if you not getting our Thursday WGR emails! We send out a Thursday blast with details of the coming WGR in a special note. You can also always find details on the google sheet above!
- Fun Change of Pace – head to Trapp’s next Sunday, March 1 for a discounted trail access day and a chance to use those snowshoes a bit more this winter! Details here, please sign up and see the note in the sheet on how to get your half price pass that day.
- Reminder – Fun Runs have officially ended! But if your Tuesday evenings feel empty, don’t fear – an intrepid group continues to meet at the Bear Naked Growler on Tuesdays for a run along the bike path at 5:30pm. Wear your reflective gear and headlamps – be seen, be safe!
- Mount Washington Road Race June 27 – Donna wants to remind anyone who has mused on trying to get into this race that random selection closes tomorrow February 23 at midnight! Details here and good luck!
- Wanted! We had expressions of interest for club treasurer, membership coordinator, youth grants, and comms coordinator – thank you to all who have stepped up or are in discussions to learn more. Meanwhile we have one other role we’re looking to fill in time to be included in the slate of new board members at the March 15 annual meeting:
- Club Secretary- Current Secretary Cheryl Lasell is putting her pen down after four incredible years in this role. She leaves big shoes to fill, but we hope that someone in the club has just been waiting for their moment to step up. This is a board position with an indefinite term. The person who fills this role should be organized and detailed-oriented, skilled at capturing meeting decisions/actions (or have ideas for how to do so in ways that utilize new technology!), and generally keeping club written records. Please reach out directly if you’d like to learn more or discuss with Cheryl what the role entails/time commitment, etc.
Member benefits – don’t forget your benefits! All details on benefits and how to access them can be found here.
