| President’s Note The CVR – Onion River Race Series is in full swing with well over half the races in the books. There are some changes in the rules this year for CVR members to keep in mind for the remaining races this year. Participation is more of an emphasis in this year’s rules. A runner’s top seven races are scored this year versus six in past years. A runner has to run at least three races in the series to be eligible to win their age and gender category. Also, points are awarded based on the simpler process than past years of finish place among CVR members in your category rather than on the percentage of your time compared to the top CVR finisher in your category. The goal of these changes is to increase participation in this popular race series with our longstanding supportive ORO partner. I hope these changes will make you more likely to jump into our remaining races. The Barre Heritage 5k this weekend presented a great opportunity for the central Vermont running community to gather for camaraderie, mutual support, and a beautiful and challenging course. Kudos to race organizers Nick Becker and Jackie Jancaitis for the great job they did marking the course. Trail races take hours to mark and they rose to the occasion to expertly guide us every step of the way.- Tim Newsletter Highlights and Contents: July 26 – August 8 Upcoming Events- Berlin Pond, Nathan Suter Track Celebration Recent events recap Race Series rules reminder Weekly summer events- road, trail, and track! | Race Series Rules Change Reminder Now that we are past the halfway point of the CVR/ORO Race Series, we want to remind members of the changes we’ve implemented this year. 1) Scoring has been changed to a simplified point system, with 10 points awarded to the first CVR finisher in an age group, 9 to the second, etc. 2) We now count the seven best races in the standings instead of six. 3) To be considered the winner of the series for an age group, you must participate in a minimum of three races. 4) Unchanged, but a reminder that you must also volunteer for at least one CVR race to be included in the series standings. |
| Calls for Volunteers Berlin Pond: Bob and Sue could use at least 3 more volunteers. If you can help out, email Bob: robertsemmons@comcast.net Nathan Suter Track Celebration: Volunteers are needed for the rescheduled track celebration. Fill out this form to let them know you can help! Northfield 5k: We always need volunteers to put this race on. Reach out to Tim Noonan (carrnoonan@comcast.net) if you can help out with the festivities. CVR cannot put on races without volunteer support, and your help is always needed. Please volunteer now to help the race directors fill necessary jobs and plan for full race day support. |
