News and Notes

CVR birthdays this week:

Happy Birthday to: Ella Bradley, Max Kissner, Rob McDougall

Hi CVR Members,

Welcome to February! Half way through the winter and maybe we are out of the deep freeze we have been in for the last couple of weeks. The warm up this week certainly feels nice, There is not a lot of news to report so let’s get right into it.

Winter Group Runs
Last week’s winter group run was in East Montpelier. The grand snow storm that was supposed to come never reached us. Temperatures were cold but a lot more mild compared to the previous weeks. Seven runners joined the group running distances of 7 – 10.6 miles. This Saturday’s group run will be hosted by me in Plainfield. As usual the details will be sent out in an email tomorrow. If you want to be on the distribution list please reply to this email and ask to be added.

CVR Annual Dinner
I want to inform those who had previously sent John Martin a note that you would be attending the dinner for the January date, you will need to RSVP him again. We need to make sure how many can attend on March 21st. You can send an email by clicking here  John Martin

CVR Newsletter
Our next newsletter will be coming up the first week of March. Please submit your articles to Alice McCormick by March 1st.

CVR Annual Meeting
I would like to set the annual CVR meeting on the traditional day in March. We had always had it the day of the Kaynor’s Sap Run. This year the race will be on Sunday, March 27th. The meeting would have a 4 pm start time. We are not in a typical year however and I am still considering to have a hybrid meeting where those who want to join the meeting live can do so and others can join the meeting virtually.

Race Directors Meeting
Jackie Jancaitis has set up a Race Directors meeting for Sunday, March 13th at 4 pm. The meeting is open to all members. If you would like to join the meeting please reach out to Jackie and she will provide you with the link.

Millstone Madness Snowshoe Race

Saturday, February 12th, 2022, 10am

The Millstone Madness Snowshoe Race is approximately 3 miles with approximately 400 ft of climbing over mostly single track trails. This may not seem like much but expect the unexpected. This is not your average trail or road race. The snowshoes, ice, and lots and lots (we hope) of snow will make your lungs and legs burn. The seemingly endless climbs will make you wonder if you were mad to sign up. The enchanted beauty of the woods will make you delirious. After, while enjoying the campfire, you might be ready to sign up for next year.

ORO is offering 50% discount on rentals to participants.

44 Brook Street, Websterville, VT 05678

Coldest Marathon
Okay, so the winter group run runners thought they were running in some cold temperatures, but Andy Shuford sent me a message to share about the recent coldest marathon on record -53C. If you are wondering what that is in Fahrenheit then I already calculated it, -63.5 degrees! Click this link to read it. Coldest Marathon.
