News and Notes

CVR Birthdays this week:

Happy Birthday to: David Erickson, Mark Evans, & Sarah Knutson!

Howdy from Adamant,

It’s fall, however it’s sunny and 80 degrees F (27 C). However, the days are now less than 12 hours in length and growing shorter by over 3 minutes every day. The race series is over, however there is still the Fallen Leave 5K series November 4, 11, & 18.

Leaf Peepers was this past weekend. I spoke briefly with Will after the race and he thought there were roughly 100 more runners this year! Great to see the race growing. There were great conditions and a great group of volunteers that helped make the race a success. The results are on the CVR website, however you can also find the results here: Leaf Peepers Half Marathon and 5K | Race results | Webscorer
The 5K, which had 143 runners, was won by Adron Pitmon in a time of 16:21.6. The first woman was Alison Migonis in a time of 20:12.5. Noah Witke Mele was the first non-binary in a time of 29:54.5.   A quick look at the results showed Elizabeth McCarthy, Bob Murphy, & Gordon MacFarland won their age groups.

The half marathon was won by Logan Senrud in a time of 1:16:21.3. Laura Peterson was the first woman in a time of 1:35:04.7. There were 304 runners. Ann Treadwell, Donna Smyers, Jim Flint, & Tom Hogeboom all won their age groups. Megan Petrine was the first non-binary in a time of 1:49:04.7.Here are a few photos from the half-marathon race, however none from the 5K (sorry):

Fun Runs
Official run runs are over for the year, however I’m guessing people will continue to show up Tuesday evenings to get in a few miles.  The days are getting shorter, however bright clothing and lights will make for a safer run.

Other runs
The Long Trail Running Club has Thursday evening runs in Chittenden County, starting and finishing at a brew pub. It’s a fun group, and they usually find good routes.  Routes are 4-6 miles long; the group stops from time to time to wait for the caboose to catch up; there’s also often a group that walks. Check out the group at www.meetup.com/longtrailrunning

There’s a link to RunReg at https://cvrunners.org/join-cvr (“JOIN CVR”). This page also has a printable form for those who prefer to mail their renewal.
Renewing with a multi-year membership means fewer year-end renewals for you and less administration for the club.
Not sure when your membership is due for renewal?
• check your membership card (contact Graham if you need a new one)
•check when your membership expires by logging in to the CVR website. (Here are the instructions  to log in)
• contact  Graham and he can confirm your renewal date

VolunteersRace Series
The race series is done for the year, however check the standings and start thinking about next year! The race committee is planning what races will be in the race series next year. Send me your suggestions!

Web Site
I know we’ve had members running some races outside the local area that I’d like to hear more about. Reach out to John with the details so we can share your experience with the entire club.

Send your running related stories and articles to John at info@cvrunners.org to be published on the CVR website.
