CVR Birthdays this week:
Happy Birthday to Shannon Salembier and George Moltz
Greetings from colorful Adamant,
Wow! The colors seem really great this year. Given the lack of water through the summer I wasn’t expecting what’s appeared. It’s a nice surprise. I hope you’re all taking some time, especially when the suns out, to get out and enjoy Vermont.
The racing season is winding down for CVR. There are three remaining races: the Fallen Leaves series. This is a group of three 5K races, on first three consecutive Saturdays in November. Tim Noonan does a great job directing these with the proceeds going to help a local charity.
The races also serve as the last opportunity for those competing in the CVR/ORO race series to get their volunteer requirement completed. It doesn’t matter how many points you have if you haven’t volunteered.
Ironman World Championship
The Ironman World Championship was held this past week in Kona. For those not familiar with an Ironman competition, it’s a 2.4 mile open water swim followed by 112 mile bike ride and finishes with a full marathon. Our club member Donna Smyers competed in the 65-69 age group. Donna not only won her age group but set a new course record of 12:22:38. Way to go, Donna!
Fun runs/walks are still happening!
These evening runs are a great way to get in a few, relaxed miles, with a bunch of people who know a boatload of stuff about running and are willing to share what they know.
Trail Running
I’m not aware of a trail run this weekend but keep checking…
See the Group Trail Run spreadsheet for info on planned runs.
It’s a Google Doc. You can look ahead and see if there’s a run that interests you.
If you haven’t yet joined a summer trail run, put one or more on your calendar – they are always a lot of fun. Feel free to host a trail run as well.
Volunteer Signup
There are still three club races left this year. Tim always is in need of volunteers! Please consider volunteering. This year, we are accepting your sign up on our website. Click here to check out the signup site. Click on “Volunteer for a CVR Race”. If any issues, please reach out to our webmaster John Hackney.
Using the volunteer’s app, race directors are responsible for making any final changes to their list of volunteers within 2 or 3 days after their race. Then, using the ‘Set volunteer status’ item on their menu, they should set the volunteer status of their race to Final to prevent any more changes from being made.
Race Results/reviews:
There were a couple of races this past week.
Ripton Ridge
Three CVR,ers travelled down to Ripton for their annual run. This year the race went in a counter-clockwise direction. The three runners were Laura Medalie, Ann Bushey, and Dot Helling. All three were age group winners! Nice going!

CVR Equipment Use
Anyone wanting to use equipment send Sal (and cc myself) a request that includes 1) Date equipment to be removed from the shed, 2) Itemized list of equipment being removed; including quantities, 3) Date equipment will be returned to the shed. Please send Sal (and cc the club president) and email to let us know when the equipment has been returned.
The Club Timing Clock
If you use the club timing clock, it’s important it be returned the next day. The clock is used for a lot of events other than club races. It’s club policy that if the clock is requested for a non-CVR event, a CVR member must be present to ensure proper handling.

You have running gear you’re not using and would like to sell it, I’m happy to post it here for you.
