CVR Birthdays this week:
Happy Birthday to: Ira Gardner-Morse
Hi CVR Members,
Welcome to August!
I already announced this on Monday but I will repeat the news about the weekly prizes for the Participation Virtual Race Series.
VT Creamery, Morse Farm and ORO.
Vermont Creamery is donating a $100 gift basket that will be broken up into goat cheese prizes that will be given weekly plus a final gift basket for the final drawing. Vermont Morse Farm will provide 10 creemees, so 1/week for 5 weeks and then 5 at the finale. Onion River Outdoors will provide $10 per week plus $25’s at the end!
The final drawing will also include homemade blueberry jam donated by Megan Valentine and a Free Injury Screening courtesy of Fixer-Upper PT!
So here are the first set of weekly winners….congratulations! Run a race this week for your chance to win the lottery next week.

Last week I asked members to send me news about their running experience or any news they would like to share about running. Jim Flint sent me his experience to a recent race he ran and I will share that this week.
“On Sunday, I actually did a race – the Caspian Challenge in Greensboro. There were 22 finishers in the 6.75-mile lake loop and a bunch more participants in the 5k out and back. There were no bibs; registration was entirely online, runners self-timed, and you could start the race at any time during the day.
I started with a group of six or so runners at 8:30, including Ann Treadwell from Burlington. Evan Thornton-Sherman started almost 10 minutes after me. He caught up and passed me about 100 meters before the finish line.
My time of 47:50 was good for fourth overall, though I did not win the 60s age group! Roger Prevot, who is also 61, from East Hardwick, ran later in the day. He finished in 47:02. John Fixx, son of the legendary Jim Fixx, also ran in the lake loop.
It was a decent morning to run with temps in the low 70s and a light breeze. The rolling course was quite beautiful and it felt good to test out the legs.”
For the Virtual Participation Race Series the number of registrants have increased to 54 runners that are participating or tend to participate. Remember the deadline for registering has been extended to this weekend so sign up now!!
Results are now 110! The Berlin Pond 5 Miler is now clearly the most popular race event with 21. John Martin remains the only one to have completed all 10 events and has even started a second round of them!
Congratulations to all that are running!
