News and Notes

CVR Birthdays this week:

Happy Birthday to: Willem Colvin, Eric Morse, Donald Singer – new age group 60’s!, Jonnie Dunne, Christy Krussman, Amy Mitchell

Hi CVR Members,

Welcome to March! My final month of writing you all a weekly news and notes. Did anyone notice the “Magic Number” at the end of this email?  Only one person seems to have noticed and asked me what it meant. There is no real meaning other than the number of remaining news and notes I need to write!

March means warmer weather, more participation in events, election of new officers and sap flowing with the changes in temperatures. Speaking of sap, how many of you know that the Kaynor’s Sap Run 10K on March 27th put on by GMAA is the 2nd race in our series in 2022 after the New Year’s Eve 5K? The race season is coming upon us fast, unfortunately until then there is not a lot to write about. So let’s get into what news I do have.

Winter Group Runs
The group met at the Middlesex park and ride and most everyone took the long course up dreaded McCullough Hill Road, at least dreaded for some of us. A cool morning but a beautiful day for running and the views were fantastic. This Saturday the run will be in Waterbury and hosted by Bob Emmons. Those on the mailing list will get the details as usual. New members or those not already on the mailing list that want to be added please reply to this email and I will add you.

CVR Annual Meeting
The annual meeting is coming up soon, Sunday, March 27th at 4:00 PM. It will be live and virtual. A link to the virtual meeting was already sent out and if you have misplaced that don’t worry as I will include it in the next couple of news and notes. Those meeting live will will do so at Ann Bushey’s residence. I will also provide those detail to members who indicated they would join live in the survey. If you have not done the survey yet please do so now.

Membership Renewal

CVR memberships expire on March 31st each year. For example, if you have a one year membership for 2021, your membership expires on March 31st, 2022. We encourage anyone with an expiring membership to renew before the end of March. CVR members can now check when their membership expires by logging in to the CVR website. There are instructions at: https://cvrunners.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/membership-expiration-instructions.pdf  There is also a link to these instructions on the homepage of the website named: ‘How to check membership expiration’.

Please contact John Hackney at info@cvrunners.org if you have any questions or problems checking your expiration date.

CVR Annual Dinner – Thursday, March 24
With Covid cases dropping substantially, I am hoping there is a renewed interest in the annual dinner. So far replies to John have been slow. Remember that those who had previously sent John Martin a note that you would be attending the dinner for the January date, you will need to RSPV him again. We need to make sure how many can attend. Please respond to John by March 21st. You can send an email by clicking here  John Martin

CVR Newsletter
Our next newsletter will be coming up the first week of March. Please submit your articles to Alice McCormick by March 1st.
