Barre Heritage Festival 5K Trail Race

Record turnout (must have been the awesome first place granite awards) at the Barre Heritage Festival 5K on Saturday.  Results are here.  69 runners, the most since the race moved to the Millstone Trails in 2010.  16-year old David Poulin won the race for the men and the coveted granite award. One second behind him was CVR’s Brian Carlson. The first woman was Brittany Telke of Bristol, CT who took a coveted granite award back home.  Thanks to Race Director Jackie Jancaitis, Rehab Gym and the volunteers for a great event!

Next CVR Meeting and Newsletter Deadline

The next CVR meeting will be Monday, August 12 in Craftsbury, at Jim Flint’s house.  Jim has a run planned at 4:30pm, followed by a cooling off dip in the creek.  Potluck and cookout will be at 6pm.  Jim will have the grill fired up, so bring burgers or whatever meat you want to cook.  Other pot luck items too.  We will have a brief business meeting and a short talk about the Craftsbury running program and the upcoming Genny Tenny race by Heidi Caldwell, Craftsbury Running Director (and 2019 Mt. Washington co-winner).

Driving directions and further info coming up in the newsletter!

Newsletter Deadline

Please submit articles about your summer adventures.  Please send your contributions to Maryke Gillis by August 7.

Colchester Triathon-Vermont Senior Games

Donna Smyers won the Vermont Senior Games triathlon at the Colchester Triathlon this past Sunday.  This race was designated the VSG event for the year. She also won her age group and was 12th overall.  Here is a VSG article.  John Valentine also won his age group but got no credit for the VSG?  Here are results.

Strava on the CVR website

The website now is displaying Strava data for those who want to join. Or, if not, you still can read. Best post is from Sal Acosta from a hot run on Sunday “what are heat stroke symptoms again?”.  See the right side of the home page.

Runners Wanted

Susannah Colby is going to the Presque Isle Marathon in Erie, PA .  The race is Sunday, September 8 and I believe is closed out, but if you are planning to go, she is interested in sharing transportation and/or accommodation.  Please reach out to Susannah if interested.

Interested in the VT 100 on 100 but don’t have a team? There is a team from Boston looking for members after some dropped out.  They are running it for fun and will be glad to talk to you.  Contact Patrick O’Donnell if interested.  100 on 100 is August 17.

Upcoming CVR Races

Berlin Pond 5 Miler is the next CVR/ORO Race Series race, on Thursday, August 15 at 6pm.  Volunteers are also needed for it, contact Jeff Prescott if you can help.
